Committee Opportunities
Unclassified staff at KU have many opportunities to serve on committees that help shape life on our campus. Committee involvement provides a way to learn about activities outside your unit, to get involved in the decision-making process, and to connect with people across campus.

Unclassified Senate committees
Unclassified Senate has four standing committees that work to bring about Unclassified Senate goals. These committees focus on activities generated by Unclassified Senate and deliver results that benefit the unclassified staff at the University of Kansas, as well as promote awareness of Unclassified Senate members and the organization’s mission. The University of Kansas has several committees that strive to improve the working environment at KU through morale-, charitable- or grievance-based activities. These five committees seek involvement from a variety of sectors on campus. Unclassified staff plays a valued role in these committees by providing perspectives and support that are essential to the completion of the respective missions. More information.
Governance Committees:
The KU governance system operates on a committee system with reference to the University Senate (eight committees) and Faculty Senate (four committees). Recommendations for positions on governance committees are submitted by the appropriate constituent groups (Faculty Senate, Student Senate, Unclassified Senate, and University Support Staff Senate) to the Senate Executive Council (SenEx). SenEx writes "charges" for these committees during the summer. The charges are a list of items that SenEx wants the committee to address during the coming year.
