Executive Board Meetings Minutes
Minutes of the UPSA
Board Meeting, May 8, 2001
Present: Sandra
Wick, Ola Faucher, Eric Jeppesen, Molly Mulloy, Thelma Helyar.
Treasurer's Report:
The UPSA account has about $140.00 in the budget after the ballot
goes out. Molly Mulloy reported that as one UPSA member who had
received a professional development grant had to return the money
because she could not go to the meeting, the UPSA funds were able
to meet the cost of the last UPSA Newsletter and the sending out
of the ballots. Otherwise, all the money for travel and conferences
had been spent.
President Sandra Wick
reported that at the moment no one knows what is happening to the
State of Kansas Budget. The FICA money, which is one-time only money,
will go the Board of Regents. We need to keep in touch with the
legislators, she emphasized, and go to meetings that have anything
to do with salaries.
Eric Jeppesen, the incoming
UPSA President, reported that Reggie Robinson, Counselor to the
Chancellor, will chair the search committee being set up to hire
a new athletic director.
The UPSA Board members
present discussed the UPSA by-laws, especially those relating to
who was eligible to run for positions on the Board. It was decided
that in the next fiscal year the Government and Representation committee
should examine the by-laws to see if any changes should be made
in them. Perhaps Article 6, which states that anyone running for
UPSA President should already have been active in UPSA. Another
change suggested was that there "may be a nominating Committee"
should read there "will be a nominating committee." Also, elections
should be in March, instead of April. The Nominating Committee will
count this year's returned ballots.
Molly volunteered to
make the arrangements for an Alcove in the Union building for next
year's UPSA Board meetings.
