The president of Unclassified Senate attends the chancellor's weekly Academic/Administrative Council meeting. Unclassified Senate is asked, along with representatives from other governance groups, to attend meetings with Kansas regents and legislators and others. There is an unclassified staff representative on every university governance committee. Unclassified Senate is regularly asked to nominate members to serve on higher-level administrative search committees. Unclassified Senate also nominates representatives to serve on university-wide standing and ad hoc committees, such as the Employee Recognition Committee.

In addition, Unclassified Senate works to strengthen communication opportunities between unclassified staff and central administration. Unclassified Senate frequently invites guest speakers to attend the general meetings to address matters of concern.
